December 4, 2017: Official press conference is held to announce the newest franchise, the Carolina Cobras. Billy Back is named head coach.

April 7, 2018: The Cobras host their first ever game against the reigning National Arena League champions, the Jacksonville Sharks. The Cobras fall short of victory 41-38 after failing to convert an onside kick in the fourth quarter.

April 14, 2018: Carolina earns their first win in franchise history in Portland, Maine, after defeating the Maine Mammoths 56-42.

May 19, 2018: The Cobras overcome their biggest deficit in franchise history. At the end of the third quarter in a home game to the Massachusetts Pirates, Carolina quarterback Charles McCullum threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown by the Pirates, putting the Cobras in a twenty-point hole. Carolina rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Pirates 33-6 to end the game and win 72-65.

July 14, 2018: Carolina secures their first playoff berth in team history after defeating the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks at home 78-9. This game also saw the Cobras largest marginal win, outscoring the Steelhawks by 69 points.

August 5, 2018: Carolina secures the No. 2 seed in the playoffs after the Maine Mammoths defeat the Jacksonville Sharks at home 43-36. The Cobras finished the regular season with a 10-5 record, falling short of the No. 1 seed after the Massachusetts Pirates went 11-5.

August 14, 2018: After defeating the No. 3 seeded Jacksonville Sharks at home 73-48, the Cobras secured their berth in the National Arena League Championship. The Cobras quickly erased any hopes the Sharks had of making it to the championship, out-scoring them 39-7 in the first half.

August 27, 2018: After defeating the No. 4 seeded Columbus Lions at home by a score of 66-8, the Carolina Cobras were crowned 2018 National Arena League Champions. Carolina quarterback Charles McCullum won the MVP award after his stellar performance, in which he completed 19 of 27 passes for 258 yards and seven touchdowns, while also rushing for one on the ground. The Cobras finish the season with a 12-5 record.
