Carolina Cobras Sign QB Bryan Hicks for 2021 Season

Greensboro, NC

The Carolina Cobras announce the signing QB Bryan Hicks for 2021.

Bryan Hicks (6’ 1” 201 Southwestern University) was a four-year starter at Southwestern, was a 2016 Conference Champion as well as is the all-time leader in Passing Completions, Yards and Touchdowns in school history.  After his college career he took a year as an assistant coach at Southwestern University and St Gabriel’s Catholic School as Offensive Coordinator.  The desire to play football was still there and in 2018 Hicks signed with the Green Bay Blizzard (IFL).  2019 led Hicks first to the New York Streets but moved on to Orlando Predators where he played six games going 106-198 and only 5 interceptions with 22 TDs and 1,055 yards in the air, including setting the NAL record (since tied) for 9 TD passes in a game, sadly, against our Cobras.  He eventually moved on to the Columbus Lions where he played in three games and threw for another 674 yards while going 63-103-5 with 13 more TDs.  So, in those 9 combined games he went 169-301-10 35 TDs and 1,729 yards.

Hicks had this to say about coming to Carolina for 2021, “I am very excited for the opportunity to play in The Snake Pit and help bring a championship back to Carolina!  The Cobras are a championship caliber organization, and Coach Res is a coach I’ve always wanted to work with, so it was a no brainer.”

Coach Resignalo said, “Bryan has experience in both the IFL and NAL.  Bryan’s skills fit perfect in the Arena style game.  He is a leader and competitor.  We have talked through the last couple years and to have him on the same team is going to be great for everyone.  He is going to put up big numbers.  We will have two more QBs on the roster for camp which will be familiar names from the 2020 season, so, the QB battle in camp will be a good one and even that much more exciting getting to coach it first-hand.  Surprising enough Bran was on three teams in the NAL last year.  He even came into the Pit in 2019 and snuck away with a W.  Finished with Columbus where he did well with what he had around him.  2021 can potentially be a big year for Bryan with the weapons that will be around him.  The trenches will be one of the best groups we have, which is important for any QB to be successful.  We are excited Bryan is in Carolina and look forward for what’s to come!”
