GREENSBORO – The Carolina Cobras announce the signing of offensive lineman Brandon Smith. Smith enters his first season with the Carolina Cobras.
Brandon Smith (6’8, 327) spent his college career at East Carolina University where he played in 41 games for the Pirates from 2014-2017. Smith earned Preseason All-Athletic Conference honors while serving on the offensive line at ECU. Smith played in all 12 games his senior, junior, and sophomore year. In 2016 he helped ECU to its second highest passing attack season in school history averaging 334.7 yards per game. During that same year Smith and the Pirates offense amassed three 100-yard rushing yards games during the season. In 2014, ECU built an impressive 8-4 season where they capped off the year with a nail-biting Birmingham Bowl Game in which the Pirates rushed 109 yards and threw for 427 against the Florida Gators. Despite the Gators combined 339 yards of overall offense they narrowly clinched the victory over ECU in the 28-20 final.
Brandon will be a strong leader on the offensive line and with the Cobras period. We are excited to have Brandon return for his 2nd season with the Cobras, said Coach Resignalo. Coach Res also said that Brandon is a local favorite as well and will be a leader on and off the field.
