Defensive Lineman Evan Hailes signs with Carolina Cobras

GREENSBORO –  Evan Hailes (6’2, 300) was a highly recruited defensive lineman that came to Penn State to begin his collegiate career. As a redshirt sophomore, he played in the last two games of the 2011 season landing two tackles as a defensive tackle for Nittany Lions. Prior to the 2011 season, his career at Penn State was cut short due to a severe blood clot. Hailes remained on the team as a graduate assistant. After graduating from Penn State Hailes returned to Oscar F. Smith High School, where he spent his high school career and became the Assistant Head Coach of the football team. 

During his playing career at Oscar F. Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. Hailes was the Nation’s No. 88 recruit by ESPN. During his senior year, he recorded 60 tackles and 11 sacks, helping his team to the state semifinals. In 2010, he played in the Under Armour All-American Game. Hailes was a two sports athlete at Oscar F. Smith, playing both football and track.
