Cobras ink Wide Receiver Darius Powell

GREENSBORO – Darius Powell (5’10, 187) Began his college career at UAB where played from 2011 to 2014. During his time at UAB he played wide receiver, defensive back and played special teams as a kick returner. As a wide receiver, he played in 24 games recording 21 receptions for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned three kicks for 32 yards, averaging 10.7 yards per attempt. On defense, Powell had 18 tackles and three pass breakups. Powell finished his college career at Delta State in 2015, where he played wide receiver and was the team’s punt returner. As a senior, he played in 11 games recording 38 receptions for 356 yards and three touchdowns. On special teams, Powell returned 11 punts for 30 yards. 

Powell is a native of Summerdale, Alabama where he played at Foley High School. Powell was a three-year starter at quarterback passed for 1,780 yards and ran for 756 yards. Powell led Foley High School to the first round playoffs in 2008, 2009 and 2010. His senior year, he was an All-Baldwin County selection and was a three-time Optimist Player of the Week.
