Cobras ink Wide Receiver Jermaine Jones

GREENSBORO – Jermaine Jones (6’3, 208) enters his second year of arena football after spending the 2016 season with the Wichita Falls Nighthawks and Colorado Crush. 

During his rookie season in the IFL, Jones first played for the Colorado Crush before he was traded to the Wichita Falls Nighthawks. In 2016, Jones combined for 8 receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns, ranking second on the team for average yards per catch. On special teams, Jones returned 17 kicks for 258 yards. In 2014, Jones signed with the New York Jets for rookie training camp.  

Prior to his professional career in the IFL, Jones played for St. Augustine’s University, where he caught 86 passes for 1,154 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also returned 48 kickoffs for 975 yards and one touchdown. While Jones also ran track for St. Augustine’s University. He was one the of fastest sprinters in the nation with a 4.35 in the 40.  As a junior, Jones was named the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Men’s Track Athlete of the Year after helping the Falcons to the national crown in 2013. 

Jones is a native of Wilmington, North Carolina where he played football at New Hanover High School.
