How Cobras Compare to NAL Week 9
Welcome to our Weekly Feature here at CarCobras.com where we take a look at how your Carolina Cobras match up to the rest of the NAL. After a great 52-41 win over the New York Streets Saturday night where two Carolina Cobras broke NAL Records the Cobras showed improvement in a few categories after doing well on both sides of the ball. QB Charles McCullum set the NAL Record with 346 yards passing against NY and WR Jordan Jolly was dominant receiving with 184 yards also an NAL Record!! Scoring has changed as the Cobras are now #1 in Scoring offense at 51.5 points per game, passing the Streets (50.7). The Scoring Defense is still #2 at 37.9 points per game but continue to close the gap on Jacksonville for the #1 spot who they face this Saturday night in the Greensboro Coliseum at 7pm!
The Cobras are #1 in Touchdowns Scored (54), #1 in Offensive TDs (49), as well as #1 points scored kicking, both total (64) and per game (8.0)
After racking up 347 yards of total offense (Cobras record!), and only giving up 215 against the Streets, the Cobras have moved up two spots to second in total offense with 243.9 yards per game. They are still third in total defense giving up just 217.9 yards per game.
In the rushing game, the Cobras offense continues at #3 with 19.1 yards per game but fell to #3 in Rushing Defense allowing only 18.5 yards per game. They lead the league in rushing TDs with 13.
In Pass efficiency offense they moved up to #4 at 100.7 for the season. The Defense dropped their opponents to 98.6, which currently stands at #3, down one spot from last week.
Passing offense took another huge jump, going from #4 to #2 up 16 yards per game to 224.8. The Defense is #3 but now giving up only 199.4 yards through the air.
On Special Teams, the Cobras are #2 in Made FGs (4), #1 in FG Attempts (13), still at #3 in PAT % though the percentage is up (76.4%), #1 in PAT Attempts (55) and PATs Made (42). They are also #1 in Kickoff return average (19.6), #3 in Kick returns (17), #2 in Kick Return Yards (334) and tied at #1 with Kickoff Return TDs with 1 (Thanks Cedric Poole).
Turnovers are key to any game, and the Cobras shine in this category too. Up to #3 in Interception Return Average at 10.1, but #1 in Interceptions (16), Interception Return Yards (161) and Interception Return TDs (3). They are also #3 in Fumble Return average (25.5), dropped to #3 in Fumbles returned (2), #2 in Fumble return yards (51), and #2 in Fumbles Recovered (6), and they also lead by 1 in Turnover Margin with a +7 despite generating one turnover in the last three games.
In the First Down Department, they are now #1 in total First Downs with 147, #3 Rushing (17), #3 Passing (93) and #1 By Penalty (37) and the Defense have held our opponents to just 135 First Downs, good enough for #4 in the league.
In the Red Zone the Cobras fell to #2 on Offense with an 85.7% rate of scoring, while giving up an amazing 70% rate on Defense, now tied for #1 in the NAL.
Now to the Players:
QB1 Charles McCullum after setting an NAL record of 346 yards passing is now #1 in Total Offense (247.4 yards per game), #1 in Total Offense Yards Per Play (6.9), #1 in Total Offensive Yards (1,732), Tied for #1 in Total Offensive TDs (33), as well as #3 Rushing (9.9/game), #3 in Rushing yards (69), #3 with Rushing TDs with 5. He is up to #2 in Passing average per game (237.6), #5, and climbing in Pass Efficiency (100.1) his first time over 100 since week 3, #1 in Pass Yards per Completion (12.9), #1 in Pass Yards Per Attempt (7.1), #1 in Passing Yards (1,663) and tied for #1 with 33 passing TDs.
FB Deshawn Johnson is #9 in Rushing Yards with 33 and tied for #7 for Rushing TDs with 3.
WR Jordan Jolly after setting an NAL record with 184 yards receiving is #5 in All Purpose Yards (97.5 per game) #2 in Scoring (14.2) #1 in Scoring TDs (19), #4 in receptions per game (7.38), #3 Receiving Yards per game (95.6), #4 Yards per catch (13.0), #1 in Receptions (59) and #1 in Receiving Yards (765). He is also #1 with 18 Receiving TDs.
WR LaVon Pearson is #1 in Scoring per game (14.7), #1 in TDs per game (2.3), #5 Receiving Yards per game (84.3), #10 in receptions per game (6.33), #2 in Yards per Catch (13.3), and tied at #8 in Total Receiving TDs (7) which he has done in 3 games.
WR Zack Ducker is #9 in Receptions (34) and #10 in Receiving Yards (324).
DB Cedric Poole (21.0) is #3, while WR Prince Shonola (20.5) is #4 in Kick Return Average, while Poole also has 1 of the only 2 Kick Returns for TDs.
DB Mike Green is #4 in the league with 0.62 INTs per game, he is tied for #2 in INT Returns (5), #1 In INT Return Yards (76), tied for #2 it total INTs (5) and he, Tyree Robinson and Pasquale Vacchio are all tied for #2 with an INT Return for a TD. Green is now #3 in the league in tackles per game at 5.2 and is #1 in total tackles at 41.5. Cedric Poole is #5 at 4.5 tackles per game.
DL Walter Thomas Jr may be on IR, but he is still #4 in the league in sacks with 4.0.
DL Micah Robinson is #3 in Tackles for Loss (6.5), MLB Sevon Pittman is up to #4 with (6.0) and Walter Thomas Jr #9 with 4.0.
Green is #2 in Passes Defended with 3.75/game, while Cedric Poole is #6 (2.20) and Ken Walton II is #10 with 1.60.
So on a week where two players broke NAL records, QB1 with 346 yards passing and Jordan Jolly with 184 yards receiving, there were a lot of changes on the list this week as you see!
The most important stat is six wins, against two losses and only a half game back for the lead in the NAL, with six regular season games to play.
