GREENSBORO - Defensive end Corey Crawford (6’5” 298) has inked his contract with the Carolina Cobras for the 2019 season.

A four-star recruit coming out of high school at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia, Crawford committed to playing college football at Clemson University in 2011. After his time with the Tigers, Crawford graduated and went on to sign with the NFL’s Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2015. Crawford spent the whole season on the Redskins’ practice squad, but was later released prior to the start of the 2016 season.

From June 2017 up until the end of the last NAL season, Crawford has been playing for the Columbus Lions. In his two-year tenure with the Lions Crawford has made 22 appearances, playing in all four of the Lions’ playoff games while in the NAL. In that time Crawford has made 47 tackles, with six of them sacks.

Head coach Billy Back is thrilled to see Crawford as a Cobra. “His height, length and 6’6” 300-pound frame caused havoc for opposing offensive lines in his time with the Lions,” Back states. “He had six sacks while going from defensive end to nose guard and even played on the offensive line on occasion.” Back also adds that “his ability to rush the passer and stop the run will be a huge addition to the Cobras front four.”
